Charity Shop DJ is touring Derby - celebrating the people of Derby and the music that makes us As part of the grand tour through UK charity shops, libraries, schools, hospitals, music festivals, the Houses of Parliament, and international hot spots, Charity Shop DJ is proud to be in Derby. Between January and May 2009 Charity Shop DJ will be in the city to find out what music is shaping our lives. Derby Record Holders Launched at Derby Quad September 2008. A Partnership Between Charity Shop DJ and Nottingham Trent University

Talking About Old Records is an intergenerational music project bringing teenagers and pensioners together through a range of intergenerational DJ workshops, intergenerational music workshops, and performances. Talking About Old Records at One8 Festival, Nottingham Castle
One 8 saw the launch of the Cultural Olympiad in Nottingham where the newest members of the Easy Action Sound System joined Charity Shop DJ and Dr Matt of Nottingham Trent University for an intergenerational mash-up
Over the course of September, Charity Shop DJ and Dr Matt have been working with kids from the Bemrose school in Derby, and with older people from community groups in the city, to find out how music can be a tool of communication between the generations. On 27th September 2008, these newest members of the Easy Action Sound System made the journey to Nottingham to play together for the first time at One8. They played records, re-enacted album covers, and generally mixed it up. Find out what happened here

Charity Shop DJ plays at Opening of Derby Quad Celebrating a brand new arts venue for Derby The Cultural Olympiad in Derby
So much to celebrate. The opening of QUAD, a new arts venue 'to rival any in Europe' (The Guardian), the launch of the cultural Olympiad, and the launch of the new Charity Shop DJ Derby Record Holders project. All in one. Charity shops across the city brought their vinyl into QUAD as we celebrated a slice of Derby’s past in the newest building in town. The night of mash-ups and get downs featured Charity Shop DJ, Subism, and Addictive TV.
As part of the gallery's Inspired by Bollywood exhibition, which kicks off on July 19 2008,Charity Shop DJ will be meeting up with members of the Asian community in and around Stafford to find out what Indian film and film music means to them The exhibition, encompassing all things 'inspired by Bollywood', will also feature iconic images from the National Media Museum, Bradford and an exhibition of giant hand-painted Bollywood film hoardings. A big shout out to Art Vinyl. Thank you!
