At Charity Shop DJ, we celebrated the music that shaped us. This project offered a glimpse into the records that held special meaning for our Members of Parliament. It provided them with an opportunity to share something personal about themselves with their colleagues—and with us.
On July 11, 2007, Charity Shop DJ was invited to Parliament by Arts Council England to document and photograph the favourite records of our elected MPs. The outcome was a unique and personal archive of images, sounds, and words.
Visitors could explore the Public Gallery to discover the vinyl records favored by their MPs. As Rod Stewart once said, "Every picture tells a story, don't it?"
This was an ongoing project, open to contributions from all Members of Parliament, past and present. They were encouraged to send in images and re-enactments, adding their voices to this collective musical narrative.
Charity Shop DJ extended gratitude to all the MPs, Lords, Ladies, Bishops, judges, and researchers who reached out and contributed to this initiative.
